Locals Closet invites you to shop local, wear artisanal, and always ask how things are made. What began as childhood clothing swaps has evolved into a curated fashion and storytelling platform where style becomes a lens to explore identity, culture, place, and meaningful connection.
As a circular fashion marketplace and creative studio, Locals Closet curates value-led designers, rare vintage, and one-of-one pieces that carry real stories. We introduce independent makers into new markets while spotlighting artisans and emerging designers through capsule collections, pop-ups, and city-by-city closet experiences.
At the heart of Locals Closet are Swap + Shop events—intentional gatherings that circulate clothing, curate connection between locals and travelers, and build community through conscious, elevated shopping. Each experience is designed to expand horizons, support small brands, and reimagine fashion as a shared, living exchange.

About the Founder
Valerie Smith is the Creative Producer and Founder of Locals Closet and Locals World, specializing in experiential retail, hospitality, and place-based storytelling. She produces events, pop-ups, and visual storytelling experiences that connect designers, artisans, and communities with new audiences in immersive, memorable ways.
